Osifelo humbled to take up PINA Vice President role

Speaking to SIBC News after her election, Ms Osifelo said the appointment was unexpected but one she is honoured to accept.

“I am very humbled to take up this regional responsibility as Vice President.

“To be honest, this wasn’t something the Solomon Islands delegation planned for. But it has happened, and I know this responsibility is one that serves the entire Pacific media industry.

“From the meeting and the AGM, it is clear there is a lot of work to be done. Personally, I am honoured to represent Solomon Islands as Vice President, and I will serve the next two years to the best of my ability,” she said.

Ms Osifelo acknowledged there will be challenges ahead but said she is committed to serving the Pacific media industry.

“There will be many challenges along the way, but I will do my best to serve the industry to the best of my ability,” she said.

The new PINA executive is led by Neville Choi of Papua New Guinea as President.

Other executive members are Frank Genia of Papua New Guinea as Print Media Representative, Charles Sumbe of Vanuatu as Television Representative, Viola Ulakai of Tonga as Radio Representative, Rose Amos of Papua New Guinea as Online/Digital Media Representative, and Autagavaia Tipi of Samoa as National Media Association Representative.

PINA is the Pacific’s leading media organisation, representing journalists, media professionals and news organisations across more than 20 Pacific Island countries and territories.

Established in 1974, it continues to play a key role in strengthening and supporting the region’s media industry.
