11 RESILIENCE PROJECTS UNDER C.I.C.C.P DISCUSSED

Government staff and project partners have discussed 11 resilience projects under the Choiseul Integrated Climate Change Programme (CHICCHAP)

A government statement says the programme aims to increase the resilience of Choiseul Province against climate change and natural disasters, enhance food security and strengthen the resilience of natural ecosystems.

Speaking during the discussion Dr. Melchior Mataki, Permanent Secretary of the Solomon Islands Ministry for Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology said the project is an approach his ministry would like to replicate in other provinces.

Dr Mataki explains there are multiple players working in the climate change-development spaces and capacity and resources must be shared to coordinate, implement and evaluate these programmes.

Meanwhile, Choiseul Province Premier Jackson Kiloe has encouraged stakeholders to openly share their experiences on the project with his province to advance Choiseul Province.

SIBC News understands projects in the partnership are made possible by the generous support of the American People through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Adaptation Fund, Least Developed Country Fund (LDCF) and German Cooperation (Deutsche Zusammenarbeit).
