A 12-year-old boy from Fataleka, Malaita Province has sustained serious wounds after he was reportedly attacked by a crocodile.
Father Patrick Bilisi told SIBC News, the incident occurred last week at Aluta River.
He said the injured boy was still hospitalised at the Atoifi Hospital in East Kwaio.
Father Bilisi therefore called for an urgent intervention by the police as a number of crocodiles had been sighted at the river.
” The leaders are calling on responsible authorities to address the croc problem before it gets worse,” he said.
” Especially people along the Aluta river are living under threat from the creature, people are now very afraid to travel along the river or go out fishing.”
