Disaster recovery works on Guadalcanal province in response to the 2014 April floods is well underway.
The recovery works is part of the Rural Development program (RDP) under the Ministry of Development, Planing and Aid Coordination.
RDP Program Manager Loti Vaisekavea said disaster recovery works is progressing well, adding the implementation of projects will start next month.
Mr. Vaisekavea adds 39 communities were identified as recipients of the program assistance.
“The disaster recovery work on Guadalcanal in response to the April 2014 floods is well underway and there are 39 communities being identified to receive assistance and they are now undergoing training so that they can mobilize themselves and get steps needed to be completed so that the government and the communities can be able to sign financing agreements to release them the resources.”
