The Embassy of Japan in Solomon Islands has announced the selection of Japanese Scholarships for research students to study in Japan next year.
Making the announcement today, Administration Attache Yoshiko Maruyama says the scholarship is to allow Solomon Islanders study and learn according to Japanese standards.
Ms Maruyama says, this will support students to apply Japanese standards of development and utilize them in Solomon Islands.
“I am pretty sure that they would learn a lot from Japanese side and then utilise what they learn to Solomon Islands here, so am pretty sure whatever they learn in Japan, they can utilise what they learn.”
She adds, from 2011, fourteen Solomon Islanders have studied in Japanese universities under the scholarship and eight are currently in Japan.
