A 22 years-old male person from Malaita Province has been convicted of wilful and unlawful damage to properties.
The Police media says, the Auki Magistrates’ Court recently sentenced the male person to 12 months imprisonment.
The Court heard that on 18 October 2023, the person damaged land surveyors equipment in Auki town.
The equipment used by a land surveyor working in Auki was destroyed when the suspect suddenly showed up angrily and kicked the machine causing it to fall on the ground and broke into pieces.
Meanwhile, Provincial Police Commander for Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili says that the conviction should be a reminder to all citizens to think first before doing any unlawful action because there are laws that guide and limit a person’s action.
