A total of 35 intending candidates has signed the Transparency Solomon Islands Election Integrity Pledge.
The pledge is a promise National General Election candidates will abide by when conducting their campaigns, and when they become Members of Parliament.
The pledge is part of TSI’s overall effort to counter the abuse of entrusted political power, and the undue influence of money and
private interests in politics.
Transparency Solomon Islands says the first 14 candidates to sign the pledge are from the National Transformation Party of Solomon Islands. 20 candidates from the Solomon Islands People First Party have also signed.
TSI says an intending candidate in the Province has also signed the pledge.
Meanwhile, TSI Executive Office Daniel Fenua says integrity is a value, and leaders should not wait for the law to come and regulate that value.
