Forty-eight Seventh-Day Adventist Church students’ ministers are currently undertaking Fulton Adventist University College Cohort Theology Diploma studies at Maranatha, Burns Creek.
Fulton College, an SDA university based in Fiji, is conducting cohort theology studies in Solomon Islands to support local SDA ministers in upgrading their theological knowledge and qualifications.
Departmental Secretary, Alena Ramo told SIBC News in an interview that after this fifth cohort completes their studies, participants will graduate around the end of this year to formally receive their diploma qualifications.
“This is an opportunity for those who haven’t had the chance to go out of the country,” Ramo explained.
She noted that this cohort consists of self-sponsored student ministers who are privileged to have their tuition fees subsidized for their courses this year.
According to Ramo, the first cohort was completed in early January, with continuation occurring this month consisting of both returning and new students.
The current cohort includes two women—one who is already an ordained minister and another who is a young lady entering the ministry.
Ramo emphasized the significance of Fulton College offering these theology studies locally, explaining that it enables SDA ministers to obtain proper theological qualifications to carry out God’s work in SDA churches throughout the country.
“Another important aspect of having theology studies in the country is to reduce financial constraints for ministers and lessen tuition costs,” she added.
Following the completion of cohort five, applications will become available for new intakes, continuing the program’s mission to enhance theological education accessibility for Solomon Islands’ SDA ministers.
