Seven candidates have submitted their nominations to contest the Vuhokesa ward By-election after nominations closed yesterday.
They are Paul Furai, Dorothy Ngaro, Dominic Mauli, Jack Igi Lui, Robert Sale, Danny Konge and Greg Malefo.
Returning Officer Madlyn Ero told SIBC’s “Distaem Nao” program only one out of the seven is a female.
“I have so far received seven candidates and six of them are males and we have one female candidate contesting the seat.”
She adds, candidates who wish to withdraw their nominations can do so within the next 14 days.
Ms Ero says now that nominations are closed candidates can start their campaigns.
“After the nominations closed yesterday, today the candidates are allowed to start their campaign now until the elections.”
The Vuhokesa By-election will be held on 2nd March.
