82 percent of government employees complete first dose

The Prime Minister said of the remaining 18 percent that had not taken their COVID-19 vaccination, the reasons given for not taking the vaccine are as varied.

“Largest group do not access to vaccines, mostly in provinces. They will all vaccinate when the program reaches their respective areas,” Mr Sogavare said.

The Prime Minister said the report also identified lack of awareness about the vaccination program. A number of female public servants also did not take their vaccine.

He acknowledged with huge appreciation the dedication, commitment and duty of care shown by 82 percent of its employee who responded to the government’s call to get vaccinated to protect their families, communities, and country from COVID-19.

“The Government looks forward to you completing your second doses to be fully vaccinated and contribute to our goal of reopening our borders,” Sogavare said.
