ACOM SIGNS MOU WITH WORLD VISION SOLOMONS

The Anglican Church of Melanesia and World Vision Solomon Islands have yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding for a Church partnership project to strengthen the capacity of the Christian Care Centre.

A statement from ACOM says in the partnership, World Vision Solomon Islands will provide technical support and funding to the Care Centre for a range of activities, including infrastructure to improve the centre’s capabilities.

Under the MOU, the Centre will organise trauma counseling or child development in training, Recreational materials for children and vocational and literacy training for its clients.

Director of World Vision Solomon Islands, Dr Andrew Catford says, while the relationship between the Church and World Vision exists for some time, he is pleased that both parties have finally signed the MOU to formally seal this partnership adding, World Vision looks forward to venturing into other areas of collaboration with the church to achieve common goals.

Meanwhile, ACOM General Secretary, Dr Abraham Hauriasi on behalf of the Church thank World Vision for its support in building the Care Centre.

He says, the centre is an integral part of the Church’s mission and that it has been carrying out its mission under quite challenging circumstances.

But he hopes the activities to be implemented will further strengthen the work of the centre and its staff.

The MOU is effective from 7 May 2014, ending on 30 September next year.
