Newly enthroned, Arch Bishop of Anglican Church of Melanesia, Rev. Bishop Leonard Dawea
The Anglican Church of Central Melanesia has today witnessed the installment and enthroning of its 7th Arch Bishop, The Right Reverend Leonard Dawea.
Held at the Saint Barnabas Cathedral in Honiara, the ceremony was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, Speaker of National Parliament, John Patterson Oti, Governor-General Bishop David Vunagi, and representatives from the Anglican Churches of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the United Kingdom.
Hails from Malubu Village in the Reef Islands of Temotu Province, Arch Bishop Leonard Dawea holds a Bachelor’s of Theology with Honors from the University of Chester, United Kingdom.
In his first sermon to more than a thousand congregation members, Arch Bishop Dawea said, society today is filled with hate and religious disintegration, saying it is rather important to remain in the church.
Right, Reverend Dawea said Christians need to be united in the midst of trying times.
Prior to his enthronement, Arch Bishop Dawea worked as a Diocesan Secretary to the Diocese of Temotu – a post he held since 2015.
In 2016, the Anglican Diocese of Temotu Electoral Board elected Reverend Dawea as the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Temotu.
Arch Bishop Leonard Dawea now replaces his predecessor, Bishop George Takeli.
