Westpac Bank has announced another six education grants, worth over 20-thousand dollars, for women and girls in Solomon Islands.
The Bank announced the fifth round of the Westpac Women’s Education Grants program in a statement today.
General Manager Kutila Pinto said Westpac offers these Grants to help with the cost of women’s education because the bank recognises the critical link between learning and the broader empowerment of women across the Pacific.
Mr Pinto also said Westpac believes Solomon Islands can only reach its full potential when women have stronger leadership and economic opportunities.
He adds education is key to achieving these aims – and the Bank has seen firsthand how the grants are helping not only the winners, but also their families and communities.
The Westpac General Manager said women and girls who benefit from education have far stronger chances of entering the workforce and enjoying a strong and stable career.
He says women and girls from around the country are strongly encouraged to apply for a Grant as its a big step towards helping them achieve their person and professional goals.
The Westpac Bank is offering two 1-thousand dollars grants for primary school; two grants of 3-thousand and 8-hundred and fifty dollars for high school or secondary college students; and two grants of 5-thousand and 5-hundred dollars for tertiary students or workers who would like to return to study.
