Another three political parties have applied for registration status with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.
A government media statement today says the Office confirms receiving nine applications for registration so far.
The Registrar is expected to publish a notice of the application if he is satisfied with the form and content of the applications from
parties.
On September 23, the Registrar’s Office published notices for the first six parties who applied for registration as a Party.
The notice, published in newspapers, had also invited public objections to the Parties which are to be made to the Registrar in writing within 14 days from the date of the notice’s publication.
Meanwhile, the Registrar says the Electoral Commission will stop considering applications made after the Governor General appoints a date for the National General Elections.
Political parties that are now progressing towards certification include: Kadere Party; National Transformation Party; Pan-Melanesian Congress Party; People’s Alliance Party; People’s Progressive Party; United Democratic Party.
