The Arnavon Community Marine Park in Isabel province has been declared a protected area.
The Ministry of Environment’s Conservation Division made the official declaration today.
This follows the decision of the board and management of the Arnavon Community Marine Conservation Area (ACMCA) to conserve the Arnavon islands.
A statement from the Ministry of Environment said the declaration is valid for a period not less than 30 days, adding it is in accordance with section 10 (1) of the Protection Act 2010.
The Ministry calls on any concerned individual or groups to direct their concerns and questions to the Director of Environment and Conservation Division in Honiara regarding the declaration.
