An Australian urology specialist team will visit Honiara from Thursday to March 23 to provide free urological consultations and treatment for Solomon Islanders.
A statement from the Australian High Commissioner today said the team will be based at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara to provide diagnosis and treatment to patients with urological conditions.
The statement says the team will also work with in-country medical personnel to assist to further develop local skills.
The visiting team includes a Surgeon, an Anesthetist, a Physiotherapist, two nurses and a consultant.
Meanwhile, Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Andrew Byrne says the medical team’s visit is a very important part of Australia’s ongoing assistance to Solomon Islands.
SIBC News understands the visit is being carried out under the Pacific Islands Program which is funded by the Australian Government and managed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
