The travelling public of North Malaita has been denied access to basic social services as a result of bad infrastructure after the recent bad weather.
With three wooden bridges now down and patches of deteriorating roads along the Northern region worsen, people are facing difficulties in accessing health, education as well as engage in business activities.
SIBC’s Mbita’ama stringer John Andrew Kiri reports, people have been denied access to vital services due to bad infrastructure conditions.
“Felling of the three bridges has now created difficulties for the North Malaita travelling populace especially in terms of transport to aid people’s movement to marketing centres and cocoa copra buyers are also reluctant to provide transport services along roads as they were often met by unnecessary demands, costing them hundreds of dollars. The truck owners told me they are not making any profit at all due to such difficulties.”
