Bank South Pacific has launched its Annual Go Green Clean Up Day nation-wide today, under the theme “Our Green City”.

Launched at the St Nicholas College this morning – the Annual event saw thousands of school students, youth groups and BSP staff take part in rubbish collection along streets, beaches, parks, and public areas in Honiara and the provinces.

BSP Country Manager David Anderson told SIBC News today, involving students in the clean up campaign will teach them the right attitude to ensure a clean country.

“Why we’ve picked the schools is that for the school children to get involved, it’s for the whole country and the school children are the future of the Solomon Islands, so we want to teach them the right attitude you know to keep the country, keep their location, keep everything clean.”

The BSP Country Manager also said it is important to take pride and ensure a clean surrounding where we live.

“It’s very important you know to take pride in where you live, your surrounds and you know as I said before just don’t drop it on the ground.”

SIBC News understands a total of thirteen Honiara schools and four community high schools in Auki, Gizo, Munda and Noro took part in today’s Annual Go Green Clean Up Day.
