The Parliamentary Bills and Legislation Committee begins its first hearing into the Anti-Corruption Bill 2016 and the Whistle Blowers Protection Bill 2016 today.
The Parliament Media Unit says the Office of the Prime Minister has already provided supplementary information requested by the committee to scrutinize the bills.
It says the Office of the Prime Minister, the Law Reform Commission and the Ministry of Legal Affairs were present to give submissions into the bills this morning.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare adjourn Parliament yesterday till Monday 25th April to allow the Bills and Legislation Committee complete hearings into a number of bills before the parliament deliberates on them.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Milner Tozaka is currently attending the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group meeting at the Commonwealth Secretariat Headquarter in London.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Ma’ahanua confirms the Minister’s official engagement.
“The Minister has departed to attend engagements on the country’s behalf, first being the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group Meeting which will take place at the Commonwealth Headquarters in London.”
The meeting ends today.
