The Anti-Corruption Bill 2016 and the Whistleblowers Protection Bill 2016 will be deliberated on by the Bills and Legislative Committee in Parliament next week.
Chair of the Parliamentary Bill and Legislative Committee made the announcement to clarify media statement saying that the two bills were returned to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Mr. Sandakabatu explains, the committee has received both bills and will go before the committee next week.
“As a Committee, we have received these two Bills plus four others which we have deliberated on and they are now with us. We have scheduled it out to be deliberated on or look at them as of next week, so the media statement which said we returned the Bill to the Prime Minister’s Office for their deliberation, especially the Anti-Corruption Bill and the Whistleblowers Bill, is not true.”
The Parliamentary Bill and Legislative Committee Chair adds the committee is happy to receive the two bills.
“We are very happy that these two long-awaited bills have finally appeared before the Committee ready for us to deliberate on them and ready to go on the floor of Parliament. With due diligence, we are very pleased.”
