Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit (CAPSA) Project successfully completes mid-term review

The Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit (CAPSA) Project has successfully completed its Mid-Term Review (MTR) this week, marking an important milestone in the implementation of the project and reaffirming progress toward strengthening statistical systems and audit capacity in Solomon Islands.

The Mid-Term Review assessed the project’s implementation progress, performance, financial management, institutional strengthening activities, stakeholder engagement, and overall effectiveness to date. The review involved extensive consultations with key government agencies, implementing partners, project beneficiaries, and development partners to evaluate achievements, identify implementation challenges, and provide recommendations for the remainder of the project period.

The review found that the CAPSA Project has made solid progress in supporting improvements in national statistics, strengthening audit functions, enhancing institutional and technical capacity, and improving systems and processes that contribute to better governance, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making.

The review also acknowledged the strong collaboration between participating government institutions, development partners, technical advisers, and stakeholders in advancing the project’s objectives. Recommendations arising from the review will help guide the project team in refining implementation strategies, accelerating priority activities, and strengthening coordination and monitoring arrangements during the remaining implementation period.

Speaking on the completion of the Mid-Term Review, the Government Statistician, Mr Samson Kanamoli noted that the exercise provided an important opportunity to reflect on achievements, lessons learned, and priorities moving forward.

“The successful completion of the Mid-Term Review demonstrates the commitment of all stakeholders to strengthening the country’s statistical and audit systems and ensuring the CAPSA Project delivers sustainable institutional benefits for Solomon Islands.”

The CAPSA Project remains committed to supporting the strengthening of public sector institutions through improved statistical capacity, stronger audit systems, and enhanced governance and accountability mechanisms.

The project team extends its appreciation to all stakeholders, partners, participating institutions, and development partners who contributed to the successful completion of the Mid-Term Review and continue to support the implementation of the project as it proceeds towards its conclusion in 2028.
