NRH receives ultrasound machine for regional anaesthesia

The National Referral Hospital (NRH) received a new high-tech ultrasound machine today to be used for regional anaesthesia. The equipment was donated by Dr. Thomas Matheson, an Australian Anaesthetist who was part of an orthopaedic outreach team conducting upper-limb surgeries in the country.

12 Babies Born on New Years Day
Twelve babies were born on New Year’s Day at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara, according to Esther Tausiria, a Clinical Nurse Consultant at the Labour Ward. This follows 19 births on Christmas Day in 2023. Ms. Tausiria told SIBC News that the birthrate ranges between 20 to 30 births daily.
