Key Features of the New Banknote
The commemorative $50 banknote maintains the familiar size, green color palette, and core artistic patterns of the existing circulating $50 paper note, but introduces advanced polymer technology and updated security elements:
- Substrate & Front Design: Printed on a durable polymer substrate, the front incorporates a striking new transparent window featuring the head of an eagle and the text “CBSI 50” positioned above the official CBSI Bokolo logo.
- Reverse Design: The back of the note features the Central Bank building and visually illustrates the historical evolution of currency in the Solomon Islands—tracing the timeline from traditional shell money to modern digital payments.
Produced in limited quantities, this commemorative note is expected to become a highly valued collector’s item and a cornerstone of the Solomon Islands’ numismatic heritage. CBSI encourages members of the public to handle the new note with care to preserve its cleanliness and durability.
