The Central Market will re-open tomorrow after its closure during the Easter break.
Honiara City Council Clerk Charles Kelly told SIBC News the Executive Council made a decision to re-open the market in a meeting yesterday.
Mr Kelly says the Council decision was based on its obligation under the ordinance service to provide market services to the town.
He says closing the market means they are not providing this service.
The market was closed on Sunday for the Council to do maintenance work.
Mr Kelly says the maintenance work will still proceed.
Meanwhile, the City Clerk says work has begun to install a new ice-making machine at the market.
He says this will provide ice cubes for the fishermen and a storage cool room.
