China Harbor Engineering Company and Huawei Boosts Communication in Solomon Islands with Five New Tower Sites

Honiara, Solomon Islands – In a significant step toward enhancing connectivity across the Solomon Islands, China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) and Huawei have   successfully activated another five new telecommunication tower sites as of July 31, 2025, bringing the total number of operational sites to 40.

The newly launched towers are located at:

  1. Sigana (B81)– (Isable Province)
  2. Tirotonga(M76)-– (Isable Province)
  3. Laugoata (M85)- (Central Province)
  4. Leufoman(B86) – (Central Province)
  5. Tiaro(M125) – (Guadalcanal Province)

These installations are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen reliable communication networks, particularly benefiting rural and remote communities. The expanded coverage is expected to significantly improve access for businesses, farmers, health centers, schools, and other vital sectors.

With improved connectivity, local entrepreneurs can now engage more efficiently in trade, farmers can access market information, and health facilities can enhance emergency response capabilities. Additionally, schools in previously underserved areas will gain better access to digital resources, supporting education and development.

A spokesperson for CHEC and Huawei emphasized the commitment to supporting the Solomon Islands’ infrastructure growth, stating that the project aligns with the nation’s goal of achieving widespread digital inclusion.

The latest activation marks another milestone in the partnership between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Solomon Islands,  to enhance communication resilience and unlock economic opportunities across the provinces. Further expansions are expected in the coming months.
