CHURCH TOLD TO PURSUE WORK OF ITS MISSION PIONEERS

Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo has challenged the Seventh Day Adventist Church to pursue the missionary work of its pioneers as it celebrates 1-hundred years of existence in the country.

In a farewell speech before leaving Viru, the centenary celebration venue, this morning, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo says the task of wining and converting people to Christianity is far from over.

He says the church today should have no excuse to advance its missionary tentacles as it has all necessary resources at its disposal.

Mr Lilo adds, it has education, economic development and connectivity to advance the gospel. He adds, logistics are available today and not in the pioneers times.

Mr Lilo says the 1-hundred years celebration held this week should help the church refocus its mission and explore its faith further.

He assures the SDA church as well as other Christian denominations in the country that the government will continue its support to them.

Meanwhile, SDA church leaders expressed joy to Prime Minister Lilo and his delegation for gracing their celebrations since yesterday.

The Viru community says it is proud to host the Prime Minister for one night.

Prime Minister Lilo and Madam Lilo as well as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Fred Fakari’i were presented gifts before laving Viru this morning.

The 1-hundred years celebration in Viru, which started on June 17 and ends on June 22, had an expected turnout of around 5-thousand people.
