COMMEMORATION OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY WORTHWHILE FOR S.I.

The Commemoration of the International Day of Peace in Solomon Islands is worthwhile for a country which has experienced internal conflict says the Ministry of National Unity,Reconciliation and Peace.

Permanent Secretary for the Ministry Lennis Rukale made the statement at a combined church service marking the 2014 International Peace Day yesterday.

Mr Rukale said it is worthwhile that Solomon Islands observe the International Day of Peace in the context of the local peace building process with the objective to ensure a peaceful, resilience and prosperous coexistence.

“As a country that has gone through internal conflict it is very worthwhile that Solomon Islands observe this day in the context of the local peace building process within the overall objective of rebuilding Solomon Islands into a peaceful, resilient and prosperous co-existence.”

The Permanent Secretary adds, observance on the right of peace is of paramount importance saying it can only happen when core values and virtues is understood in every day living.
