Commencement of all schools in the country for this year is delayed by one week, and not on Monday 24 January as initially instructed, says the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Dr Franco Rodie.
Dr Rodie advised all education directors and secretaries that he made a decision to delay commencement of the 2022 School Academic year by one week.
“I would like to inform you all that in consultation with the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Oversight Committee, which held a meeting this afternoon (Thursday 20 January 2022) and deliberated on the Covid-19 Community Transmission situation in Honiara and Malaita Outer Islands, I have made a decision (in my capacity as Permanent Secretary/Education) to delay commencement of the 2022 School Academic year by ONE WEEK,” Dr Rodie said.
