A consultation workshop for the development of Solomon Islands National Drought Policy is set to start tomorrow in Honiara.
Organised by the department of Meteorology, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology Services in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme (SPREP), the workshop’s objective is to establish an effective National Drought Policy.
It should work on an early warning system and vulnerability and impact assessment as well as effective drought preparedness, mitigation, response and communication plans.
