A fully operational Computed Tomography (CT) Scan Imaging project will help save funds and address healthcare equity issues in the country.
Head of Medical Imaging Department at the National Referral Hospital (NRH), Dr. Aaron Oritaimae told SIBC News recently.
Dr. Oritaimae said the lack of accurate assessment of communicable and non-communicable diseases has resulted in patients being referred overseas for CT-scan imaging at a huge cost.
It is estimated that these referrals can cost the Government between 20-36 thousand dollars, compared to 970 dollars, if done locally.
Mr. Oritaimae said owning a CT-scan will also balance the current equity issues faced in terms of health services in the country.
SIBC News understands, a CT-scan for the National Referral Hospital will be fully installed by November 2020.
