Directives from the Magistrate court is slowing down police actions against offenders of domestic violence under the Family Protection Act.
Since the gazetting of the Family Protection Act in April this year, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has issued a number of police safety notices to parts of the country.
Director of Community Policing Solomon Sisimia says, further actions on these notices has been halt following advice from the Magistrate court.
“After issuing the PSN we’ve received directives from the Magistrate, whereby I will verify more on that, that they said they will not accept anythng to do with the Family Protection Act as yet and we don’t know what happened, but that’s the challenge we are facing at the moment.”
Mr. Sisimia adds, the RSIPF will continue to serve Police Safety Notices under the implementation of the Family Protection Act.
