Cyclone OLA has moved away from the country.
Last Saturday the Met Service issued a heavy rain warning, linked to a tropical cyclone located Southeast of Rennell and Bellona Islands.
Today, the Meteorological Services confirmed the tropical cyclone moved away over the weekend.
Director of Meteorology, David Hiriasia told SIBC News Cyclone OLA is now Southwest of New Caledonia.
“Well, last week we had a monsoon trough and then we have a tropical depression which was then developed into a tropical cyclone OLA and then at the moment the cyclone has now moved outside of Solomon Islands, in fact its position now is at the Southwest of New Caledonia.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Hiriasia says the country is currently experiencing heavy rains due to a trough which is lying over the Solomon Islands.
He said people and motorists should take precautionary measures during the current weather.
He also said rainfall should ease down during the week.
“The rains will start to ease for most of our islands from tomorrow and Wednesday onwards.”
