Three MPs have joined the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG), bolstering government numbers.
They are: the MP for West Guadalcanal Hon. Moses Garu and MP for East Makira Hon. Alfred Ghiro and MP for Malaita Outer Islands Martin Mokolo Kealoe.
The MPs resigned both from the Opposition and Independent benches, leaving the Opposition now with eight members.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Secretariat office said Hon. Garu will chair the Cabinet sub-committee on RAMSI while his colleague, Hon Ghiro will chair the Cabinet sub-committee on the Development Bank of Solomon Islands (DBSI), which the Government is keen to resurrect.
The Malaita Outer Islands MP is also eyeing a chairmanship post.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare welcomed the new arrivals, saying their decisions were exemplary.
Mr Sogavare adds, there is so much to do to move the country forward.
At Tuesday’s count, the Government now boasts 35 MPs while the Opposition and the Independent both share 15 MPs.
