The High Court started its hearing into the civil case challenging the legality of the parliamentary processes taken in passing the Constitution (Amendment) Act 2022.
The Constitution (Amendment) Act 2022 passed by parliament on 8th September 2022 provides for the extension of the current parliament until 2024.
Civil case, 313 of 2023 filed by the claimant, the Leader of Independent Group, Hon John Dean Kuku against the defendants, the Speaker of the National Parliament, Prime Minister and Governor General seeks a judicial review of the processes taken in passing the act.
