The actions form part of current initiatives such as implementation of the National Human Resource Development and Training Plan, development of Solomon Islands Qualifications Framework, and development of new initiatives in vocational training.

Meanwhile, World Bank Country Manager, Anne Tully commented that twenty-percent of Solomon Islands’ labour force is in formal employment, and over fifty-percent of youths without employment.

Mrs Tully adds the World Bank seeks to bring an experience to support young people trained and have productive jobs.

The assessment has found that overall Solomon Islands has strengths in developing strategy for workforce development, but moving to implementation has been a challenge.

The assessment report presents six key findings for discussion with Solomon Islanders, which will start tomorrow till Friday this week.

It was supported by World Bank, Australian Aid Program and the Government of Solomon Islands as part of a joint program of analysis and interventions to assess and strengthen workforce development systems, training and employment.
