ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY LAUNCHED CORPORATE & H.R.D PLANS 2015-17

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology has successfully launched its 2015-2017 Corporate Plan and Human Resources Development Strategic Plan.

Launching the plans this week in Honiara, Permanent Secretary Dr Melchior Mataki says both instruments will guide the delivery of ministry programs in the next three years.

“These plans will guide the delivery of our programs over the next three years and basically the Corporate Plan makes out in detail the intentions of the ministry in line with what the Government also wants and try to point out the key areas to which the ministry is mandated to.”

Dr Mataki says both plans will complement each other.

“We have also developed a Human Resource Development Plan. The intention here is to ensure that both these plans go hand in hand. The Human Resource Development plan is to support the objectives of the Corporate plan, so these two plans go hand in hand to support each other, so these plans are also dependent on resources and also on everyone’s commitment. Plans are plans but failing to plan is really getting yourself into position to fail, but we cannot fail to plan, we must always plan, like in any other thing in life, so the Human Resource Development plan basically looks at capacity building.”

The Permanent Secretary also acknowledged the ministry staff and the SIMCAP project management unit for their combined efforts in developing both plans.
