Former Central Makira MP arrested on corruption charges.

The alleged incident occurred when he was still the member of parliament for central Makira.

Police say the suspect was bailed and is expected to appear in court on the 4th of June.

Meanwhile Police Commissioner Matthew Varley says police still have a large number of cases against public office holders in their books.

“Matters and allegation of corruptions, both against public servants and public office holders like MPs, we have a large number  of cases on our books, and we continue to work through those behind the scenes,” he said.

“Over the past weeks we had a number of trials ongoing and our work is very intensive in terms of preparing cases for court and witnesses, but none the less behind scenes, investigations continue.”
