FSII SLAMMED HCC’S “GET TOUGH ACTION” ON TEACHERS

Forum Solomon Islands International has slammed the Honiara City Council’s get-tough-action against its teachers saying it is irresponsible.

Honiara City Council Deputy Mayor Eric Tema had previously commented on teachers postings for this year that ‘teachers must understand whatever the Council blesses is final and should not be questioned’.

But FSII said the statement shows the Council’s failure to address the run down state of affairs in education in Honiara.

The statement said many of the issues raised are administrative ineffectiveness and the call to remove the former CEO is very timely.

Meanwhile, the FSII encourages the Honiara City Council Education Committee to work closely with Council School Boards and Committees, and to make fair and rational decisions on issues such as postings.
