Gizo Community High School in Western Province has received five desktop computers from the Georgian Government.
The computers are part of the Georgian Government’s promise to donate a thousand computers to the Solomon Islands Government.
Speaking last Friday during a handover ceremony, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Beraki Jino said his Ministry will deliver the computers to Gizo Community High School on behalf of the Georgian Government.
Mr Jino also said the Government hopes the computers will help students and teachers in their academic work for the year.
Speaking on behalf of the school, Clive Maqiti said the computers were a timely donation and will them to prepare notes and exams for students, and allow students to do research.
Meanwhile, a second shipment of desktop computers from the Georgian Government is expected to arrive in the country in the coming months.
The computers will be delivered to schools located outside of Honiara.
A Government statement says the desktop computer assistance was secured by the previous NCRA Government in 2012.
