GNUT welcomes withdrawal of Motion of No Confidence

MPs come together in solidarity of GNUT

The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) welcomes the formal withdrawal of the Motion of No Confidence that had been put on notice on 28 April in Parliament by the Hon. Gordon Darcy Lilo, Member of Parliament for Central Honiara.

This development allows national attention to return to key priorities that matter to the people of Solomon Islands. 

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele acknowledged the withdrawal of the Motion and emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity of the parliamentary process in a healthy democracy.

“Let me also use this occasion, Mr. Speaker, to thank our good people — the general public — for maintaining peace and public order over the past week.

“I also wish to thank our churches and all Christians for their prayers and support during this period.”

The Prime Minister further extended his appreciation to the Hon. Member for Central Honiara, the mover of the motion, for the dignified manner in which he chose to withdraw it.

“That shows leadership and maturity. I commend him for this effort and initiative — it reflects a commitment to putting our country first and serving the national interest,” the Prime Minister said.

As Solomon Islands moves forward, the GNUT calls for mutual respect and continued national unity. Responsible leadership and a strong democracy rely on meaningful participation from both Government and Opposition.
