Three Cabinet ministers have formally resigned from the GREAT Coalition Government amid a Motion of No Confidence against Prime Minister Matthew Wale.
They are Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs Clezy Rore, Minister for Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration Harry Kuma, and Minister for Home Affairs Manasseh Maelanga.
Deputy Private Secretary to the Governor-General, Maxwell Banyo, confirmed the resignations to SIBC News this afternoon.
Mr Banyo said the three resignations remain the only ministerial resignations received so far.
“I can confirm that the three Cabinet ministers’ resignations have remained as it is,” he said.
He also confirmed that no other Member of Parliament has submitted a resignation.
“There is no other MP who submitted their resignation,” Mr Banyo said.
Mr Banyo confirmed that Governor-General Sir David Tiva Kapu formally received and signed the three ministers’ resignation letters today.
“His Excellency Governor-General Sir David Tiva Kapu has formally received and signed the resignation letters today,” he said.
The resignations follow the filing of a Motion of No Confidence against Prime Minister Wale by Mr Maelanga in Parliament on Saturday.
Parliament is set to resume on September 7.
