Mr Eta adds that regular waste collection will be done by HCC’s own waste collection fleet, including contractors.
He adds that a growing concern for the Council is the increasing number of derelict vehicles obstructing public roads and spaces.
Mr. Eta calls for their voluntary removal. There will come a time when enforcement actions will be taken.
Maintaining a clean city is not only crucial for public health and the visitor experience, but also reinforces the Forum’s vision for a resilient and thriving Pacific.
He stated that this effort contributes to strengthening the national image of the Solomon Islands and sets an example for the broader Pacific region.
Mr. Eta said the Honiara City Council encourages all residents to dispose of waste in designated bins, join community clean-up efforts, and promote environmental awareness in schools, workplaces, and communities.
