The Honiara City Council is putting out vacancies to recruit new market staff including a new market master.
The previous market master and most workers contracted to look after and manage the Honiara Central Market retired late last year.
The shortage of staff at the market has contributed to its deteriorating condition.
Clerk to the Council, Charles Kelly says the new staff will include a new market master, cleaners and an advisor.
“We will be recruiting a market manager and at the same time, we will also recruit cleaners and maybe review the revenue collectors and also I hope that we will have a market advisor. Our advisor is an externally appointed person that will come to help us manage the market by way of its ordinance.”
