To ensure public buses in Honiara are displaying Honiara City Council destination signs and following approved routes, checks on buses will begin next Monday.
Honiara City Mayor Andrew Mua said a one-week grace period was given to bus owners to get their destination sign and business licence, which are among the requirements of a city council ordinance that came into effect on Monday.
The planned bus checks will help to enforce the ordinance and keep vehicles safe for public users, Mr Mua said.
