ISIA TO EXPAND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR ITS MEMBERS

He said the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will help the Institute to better inform employers of their obligation to register their accountants under the Accountants Act 2010.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants has relocated office to the Heritage Park Commercial Building.

The move was possible via support from Deloitte Solomon Islands which provided a workspace, furniture and access to office equipment for ISIA’s Secretariat.

In a statement, ISIA President Smiley Giobauta expressed his appreciation to Ben Havenga, Manager of Deloitte Solomon Islands for his support and assistance in making the move.

Mr Giobauta said that the move was an important step forward in the development of ISIA as the nation’s authority for the regulation of the accounting profession.

He said ISIA has grown from a group of volunteer accountants to an institute which now has a self-funded secretariat and the legal power to establish and enforce accounting and auditing standards for Solomon Islands.
