Kirakira police CPS roll out at Huro community

Sgt Suhata said for by-laws to be effective, leaders must take responsibility and play an active role in creating a secure environment for their communities.

“If we are too lenient in playing our roles, we will reap the outcome in our communities,” Sgt Suhata said.

Community leaders and parents were reminded of the role they play at home, in the community, at school and at church.

“The environment we create for our children and teenagers is fundamental in shaping who they become,” Sgt Suhata said.

Sgt Suhata said having by-laws and working with police is a must in order to create a safe and peaceful environment for all community members.

Observers at the awareness were also informed of the offences under the Penal Code, Family Protection Act, Drug Act, Liquor License Act and the consequences of committing any of them.

Huro Community chairman thanked the police for conducting an awareness talk and assured officers that their community will work closely with the police in creating a safe environment for his community members.

Sgt Suhata appeals to other communities in Makira/Ulawa province to establish by-laws in their communities.
