A landowners taskforce in West Rennell has accused the Lake Tegano World Heritage Site Association of child abuse after the Association released a picture of a child holding a banner reading “No Mining and Logging at Lake Tegano”.
The picture was published on the front page of the Solomon Star newspaper last week as a photo article on Rennell children voicing their concerns against mining activities planned for Rennell and Bellona Province.
Secretary of the West Rennell Landowners Task Force Dictor Maitaki says the use of children in anti-mining and anti-logging campaigns amounts to child abuse.
