Journalists from the mainstream media, student journalists from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and members of Vois Blong Mere Solomons have successfully completed a two days workshop on “Reporting on Gender-based Violence” in Honiara.
Workshop facilitator Atenasi Wasuka who is also the Project Coordinator for the Elimination of Violence Against Women for the UN Women Solomon Islands and Vanuatu says the workshop aims to raise critical awareness on the ways in which gender violence is covered.
Opening the workshop, she said it also provides practical tips on reporting gender-based violence, saying it demonstrates more sensitive approaches to covering gender-base violence and generate more gender-sensitive reporting on gender-based violence.
