The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology has successfully launched a new water supply system project in Duidui in Sahalu in Northwest Guadalcanal.
The community water supply system was made possible under the Community Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Risks in Solomon Islands project.
It will serve more than one hundred households in the Duidui Community in West Guadalcanal.
Speaking at the launch Permanent Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology Dr Melchior Mataki told the Duidui Community the water project has been initiated to benefit Solomon Islanders.
“This is a government’s project together in partnership with the Provincial Government of Guadalcanal, our donor partners who are here and also other organisations as well who have assisted us to make it possible.”
The Permanent Secretary also called on the Duidui Community to manage the project for the benefit of present and future community members.
“All of us who have gathered here must do our part to look after, care for it and ensure that nobody can spoil it so that we will continue to benefit from the project.”
