“Makira Provincial Government not supporting the Banana Festival is shameful”, says chair lady of the Banana festival organising committee Aukeni Mamau.
Chairlady Ms Mamau made the statement following a successful hosting of the event, in Kokana, Central Makira last weekend, where Acting Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bradley Tovusia, and the Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands, Dr. John Balavu officiated the three day event.
She said, whilst the Makira public and business houses turned up to support the event which is very encouraging, the non-attendance by the provincial government leaders is a sad and shameful act.
